Description

From Eric Kripke (“Revolution,” “Supernatural”), Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”), and the producers of “The Blacklist” comes this thrilling action-adventure series in which a mysterious criminal, Flynn (Goran Višnjić), steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine, intent on destroying America as we know it by changing the past. Our only hope is an unexpected team: Lucy (Abigail Spencer), a history professor, Wyatt (Matt Lanter), a soldier, and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett), a scientist, who must use the machine’s prototype to travel back in time to critical events. While they must make every effort not to affect the past themselves, they must also stay one step ahead of this dangerous fugitive. But can this handpicked team uncover the mystery behind it all and end his destruction before it’s too late?

Timeless has drawn in my entire family, including the 9yo and the teens. It features well-developed characters, well-written stories, a diverse and talented cast and a look at history that isn't whitewashed. Highly recommend.

This show has tapped into my nerdy side and challenged what i know about American History. I'm a junior high school student in a AP U.S. History class and i feel so cool when i know what they are talking about in the show. i picture myself being Lucy and she is an amazing actress. Also Wyatt and Rufus are amazing characters that are both funny and powerful. BUY THE SHOW. It needs all the support it can get.

The premise of the show relies on a time machine dubbed the Lifeboat and a trio (Lucy, a history professor; Rufus, a computer coder and scientist; and Wyatt, a solider) of handpicked professionals to travel back in time to stop an ex-NSA agent who stole the only other exsisting time machine (The Mothership) from changing the past for personal gain in the future. "Timeless" struggled in the first few episodes in finding its footing, but once it did, it was worth keeping up with the show. I've watched the entire series at least six times since it aired last year, the most I've binged any show so much in such a short amount of time (except for probably iZombie). One of the things I love about the show is that it's full of diverse characters and actors, something the show brings to the forefront of several of their missions through time. Actually, in the first episode, Rufus (a black scientist and coder) points out, "I am black. There is literally no place in American history that'll be awesome for me." There are several occassions where both Rufus and Lucy are put in uncomfortable situations because of his race and her gender. The show doesn't put race in the backseat, nor does it shy away from how women and people of color were (and still are) treated in the time periods the crew visits. You can watch this show and not be interested in time travel. You can watch it and not be into history. You can watch it and actually be interested in both of those things. I wasn't very interested in either, but my mind has since changed while watching this show. It's a family friendly show, as well, with a lot of intrigue, a good balance of humor to seriousness, and a whole lot of shipping Lucy and Wyatt.
  • Should have been "Worthless"

There are far too many things wrong with this series to even consider explaining them. Whether it's the poor characterizations, or inconsistent treatment of time paradoxes, or just plain getting history wrong, they add up to such sloppiness it's hard to believe even one of the networks would waste the air time on this. The bogus political correctness, as well as the naïve political incorrectness, make for uncomfortable watching; not that I mind being uncomfortable if it's for a good reason. But I see no good reason here. My wife bagged it several episodes before me saying, "It's the same thing every episode: try to stop someone mucking with time, muck that up, break history worse, kill a ton of people as if they were historical red shirts, come back to inexplicable changes (or the even more unlikely lack thereof). And get ready to do it again. Boring." I watched more, but eventually drew the same conclusion: there's lots of reasons to hate this, but the only one that matters is that it's boring. The one thing that could have saved it for me might have been the intelligent selection of interesting points in history and showing us creative ways "it really happened", but they chose stupid points in history. Lincoln? Capone? Bonnie and Clyde? Get real. Truly uninteresting events. The Hindenburg was the only interesting one, and they screwed it up completely with bogus explanations (George Scott did way better in 1975) with zero indications of what Flynn could possibly have hoped to gain out of it. Boring. Oh, and how the hell did Flynn find out about the time machine in the first place?
